Morgan is about to pull the plug on the 3 Wheeler, and to celebrate the occasion, they are launching a new limited edition called the P101.
The new 3 Wheeler P101 will be limited to just 33 examples, and all of them are already allocated to Morgan dealerships. Production of the special edition is set to begin immediately alongside the regular ‘bespoke’ 3 Wheeler models during 2021, which will be the final year of the lightweight sports car as the type approval of its S&S V-twin engine is scheduled to expire.

P101 stands for Project 101, which was the internal codename for the revived 3 Wheeler when Morgan started its development more than a decade ago. The current 3 Wheeler, which was originally introduced in 2011, became one of the best-selling models in the long history of the brand, with more than 2,500 examples made since production started.
The final special edition of the Morgan 3 Wheeler features a translucent golden tonneau cover over the passenger seat, made out of composite resin for a more streamlined appearance. This is matched with the Aero-disc wheels, which are painted to match the main body color, while at the front there’s a set of low-slung 9-inch Hella spot lamps.
The whole asymmetric theme continues with the alternated black and white ceramic-coated left and right straight-cut exhausts. Other features include a fly screen, extra louvers, exposed rivet details and unique P101 markings.
The special 3 Wheeler is available in Deep Black or Satin White Silver, with Morgan offering the choice between four different decal packs: The Belly Tank, The Dazzleship, The Aviator, and The Race Car.
Power still comes from a 2.0-liter V2 engine making 82 HP and paired to a manual transmission from a Mazda MX-5, which is good enough for the 3 Wheeler to do the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in 6 seconds flat.
“The significance of the original Three Wheeler is undoubted, however the introduction of the ‘current’ 3 Wheeler in 2011 proved to Morgan, and the world, that fun cars still have a place and that the ‘why not’ attitude is sometimes best,” said Steve Morris, Chairman & CEO, Morgan Motor Company.
“The P101 celebrates the raw and stripped back nature of the 3 Wheeler, and provides us with the perfect opportunity to draw an incredible chapter of Morgan’s history to a close,” Morris added. “Once the 33 examples have been created, the opportunity for an exciting new chapter for three-wheeled Morgan vehicles begins.”
Prices for the new 3 Wheeler P101 start from £45,000 ($59,570 in current exchange rates), plus local market taxes and on-the-road costs.
