Polaris has unveiled its new racer, the RZR Pro XP, which will compete in the SSV class at the 2021 Dakar Rally between January 3 and 15, 2021.

Based on the platform that bears the same name, it has an FIA homologated chassis customized by Jimco Racing and features many stock parts to highlight their durability.

The Dakar racer has a custom suspension with an extra 1.5 inches (38 mm) of travel over the stock variant and increased reservoir capacity for better cooling, performance and adjustability, and hydraulic brakes with dual master cylinder setup and driver-controlled brake bias.

The RZR Pro XP has a 130L fuel cell and is powered by a turbocharged 925 cc twin-cylinder engine. It also has a lightweight lithium battery from Braille Battery, can hit a maximum speed of 81 mph (130 km/h) company and wears 15-inch alloy wheels shod in 30-inch BF Goodrich tires.

As the drivers will need to make their own repairs during the almost 5,000-mile (~8,050 km) long race, an integrated spare parts and tool storage supply is also on deck.

Speaking of the drivers, Polaris has announced Wayne Matlock, Kristen Matlock and Craig Scanlon, who will be guided by Sam Hayes, Max Eddy and Keith Redstrom respectively. The team will be led by experienced Dakar racer Darren Skilton.
