If you’re a Porsche purist, you may not approve of this 1987 944 Turbo that is heading to auction later this month.
This unique 944 Turbo is part of The Bimonte Collection that’s being sold by Mecum Auctions on November 13-14 and has undergone a series of modifications that may not sit well with those who want their Porsche to look exactly as it left the factory. On the other hand, it could be perfect for those that think the regular 944 is a little bland.

The owner of this 944 has ditched the standard pop-up headlights in favor of a set of small ones that, along with the front insert, look like the ones offered at the time by Strosek (the listing doesn’t go into specifics about the mods). The standard wheels have been replaced by three-piece chrome ones, while the customized 944 Turbo also includes a custom stainless steel exhaust.
As for the interior, it is far more tasteful and looks to have been well maintained with the leather upholstery and floor mats finished in a dark shade of blue. There are also some nice carbon fiber touches throughout, as well as a modern aftermarket head unit.
Not many details have been provided about the car in the listing, but its engine has received a host of modifications from Lindsey Racing, having been bored and stroked and fitted with titanium pistons. Finally, there is a strut bar connecting the two towers for extra rigidity.
