Mini joins the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of DC’s ‘The Flash’ superhero with a special Electric hatchback on display at Lucca Changes 2020, an international comics fair in Tuscany.
The first appearance of ‘The Flash’ came in 1940 with the first Flash Comics issue, and the carmaker decided to let famous cartoonist Carmine Di Giandomenico paint on a Mini Electric for the occasion.

Carmine Di Giandomenico, who is the creator of more than 34 issues of ‘The Flash’, has also been known as “the faster cartoonist of the world” after drawing 56 comics tables in 48 hours – five hours earlier than expected.
The work done on the specific Mini Electric is a reinterpretation of the historical issue #123 cover, drawn by Carmine Infantino. The design on the car is a merger between the classic Jay Garrick version of the Flash and its modern Barry Allen version. The background of the design, just like the original book cover, features Central City, the home of the fastest superhero around.
Mini’s tribute to the Flash is a collaboration with Panini Comics, which publishes the DC Multiverse comics in Italy since this year.
The Mini Electric is based on the same underpinnings with its ICE-powered siblings and is powered by a 181 HP electric motor and a 32.6 kWh battery pack. Mini claims a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.3 seconds and a top speed of 93 mph (150 km/h), while driving range is rated at up to 145 miles (233 km) on the WLTP test cycle.
