The all-new 2021 Cadillac Escalade is an absolute beast of a thing and, as we discovered during a recent review of the SUV, has a lot going for it. What’s kinda curious is that certain models ship with hilarious steel wheels, as new photos reveal.
These images were shared to the Oppositelock group on Facebook by photographer Justin Quinn Jacobson. They show an Escalade being transported on a set of black steel wheels that are apparently fitted to all GM trucks and SUVs ordered with 22-inch wheels.

“The proper wheels and tires are actually delivered on a pallet to the dealership separately,” Jacobson revealed in an interview to The Drive. “During the post-delivery inspection, they switch the wheels, and the steelies and tires go back on the pallet and get sent back to GM. I was told there’s actually a pretty hefty core charge on them to prevent dealers from taking them.”
Cadillac took off the covers to the 2021 Escalade back in February. It benefits from many of the improvements made to the new Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, but ventures into an even more luxurious segment in the market. As standard, it comes equipped with a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol V8 producing 420 hp and 460 lb-ft (623 Nm) of torque. A 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel six with 277 hp and 460 lb-ft (623 Nm) will also join the range.
