The GMC Hummer EV has been the buzz of the automotive world since its unveiling last week, and Doug DeMuro recently had the opportunity to check it out in person.
The real highlight of the Hummer EV is the fact that it features three electric motors and pumps out a total of 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft (15,592 Nm) of torque. This enables the pickup to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in as little as three seconds with the ‘Watts to Freedom’ launch control system.
However, as the car manufacturer doesn’t yet have production-spec prototypes available to test, DeMuro’s review instead focuses more on the unique exterior and interior features of the electric pickup truck.

One of the most interesting features about the Hummer EV are the LED headlights. For example, when the truck is being charged, bars of light expand across them depending on how much charge the battery has.
DeMuro then jumps into the cabin of this Hummer EV show car. Immediately making the interior stand out from other vehicles on the market are a dizzying number of squares and sharp edges, a dramatic departure from the cabins of many other production cars that feature sleek surfaces and soft curves.
A number of interesting features are found inside. For example, there are hidden storage cubbies behind the back rests of the rear seats. Moreover, while many off-roaders include auxiliary switches and buttons that aren’t connected to anything, just in case an owner wants to fit a light bar or a winch, for example, the Hummer EV offers six auxiliary “switches” that they are actually found in the infotainment screen.
