While every Lamborghini Countach is special, this particular Countach is even more desirable as it was originally owned by Ferruccio Lamborghini.
Featured on a recent video from the YouTube channel of Tyrrell’s Classic Workshop, the story goes that when Lamborghini was on the verge of bankruptcy in 1980, Ferruccio received a call from the head of sales for the Italian brand asking if he wanted to buy a new Countach. By this time, Ferruccio had already sold all of his shares in the company.

Ferruccio responded to the affirmative, saying that he would indeed buy a Countach. The particular example he picked up was a canceled order from a friend of his who lived in Rome. The Countach was originally finished in red but he requested to have it resprayed in white at the Lamborghini factory before he took delivery.
Ferruccio’s example is a LP 400 S II model that includes the flared wheel arches and a set of distinctive silver wheels.
As Iain Tyrrell discusses in this fascinating video, series 2 Lamborghini Countach models had a 30 mm higher roof than series 1 cars because many owners simply couldn’t fit inside of the original. He says that the car recently changed hands and while he didn’t disclose the sales price, reveals that it set a new world record for a used Countach, selling for “many times” more than a normal one.
