Both the C7 and the C8 Corvette are powered by 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8s. However, as this video shows, each has its own unique soundtrack.
The two Corvettes feature aftermarket exhausts from AWE. These exhausts are known as the Touring Edition (the company also offers a Track Edition) and add some extra zest to the growl of the C7 and C8 without being over the top.
The C7 sounds undeniably mean and, with the AWE Touring Edition exhaust, produces some nice pops and burbles on the overrun. By comparison, the C8 seems to have a little more bass to it and, to our ears, sounds a touch more aggressive. However, it doesn’t produce the same burbles as the C7.

A key reason why the C8 sounds quite different to its predecessor is the fact that the engine is mounted behind the cabin, meaning the exhaust pipes are much shorter than those of the front-engined C7.
AWE’s Touring Edition exhaust for the C8 doesn’t just sound good, but it also sheds 31 lbs (14 kg) of weight and adds a claimed 19 hp at the wheels and an extra 15 lb-ft (20 Nm) of torque. It also features quad 4.5-inch double-walled tips that can be either finished in chrome silver or diamond black. The exhaust also has aluminum heat shields tested in both racing and road environments.
Pricing starts at $2,695 for the one with the black diamond tips and $2,795 for the one with the chrome tips.
