Not all drag races are created equal, and this one, interesting as it might be, features five cars that are by no means direct rivals in terms of segments or configurations.

Still, Autotrader’s Rory Reid wanted to see how a Lamborghini Huracan Performante performed (pun intended) against some very serious machines in a 1/4 mile straight line brawl. In the end, the result was pretty conclusive.

Still, it’s a shame that they could only get a Taycan 4S instead of a Turbo S, which would have been a better match for the Tesla. Meanwhile, even though the McLaren 540C is a terrific supercar, it’s no match for the Huracan Performante, as the latter in many ways represents the pinnacle of Lamborghini, whereas the 540C is an entry-level McLaren.

Then there’s the Aston Martin DBS, which is more powerful than the Lambo and the McLaren, but also heavier and less of a threat while launching off the line – this is where fully electric cars shine, and both the Model S and Taycan jumped out to an early lead as soon as a signal was given to race.

Now, if you’re a stickler for details, you could argue that not all ICE vs Electric battles are fair, even though the vehicles might feature similar 0-60 times or outputs. The fact of the matter is that an internal combustion engine-powered supercar should race a fully-electric supercar and not an electric sedan or crossover.

The new Tesla Roadster should fill that position quite well in the coming years.
