That dream might come true, if you have enough money in the bank, because one of the approximately 1,600 units ever made is for sale.

Made in 1924, chassis #589 has lived a full life in the hands of several owners and has also been overhauled over the years. The work included an extensive restoration to near-factory standard, with rebuilt magnetos, period-correct exhaust and fuel systems, carburetors, four-speed gearbox, revamped exterior painted black and refurbished lights, wheels and tonneau cover. It also sports new pistons, two-wire Dynamo, electronic voltage regulator, 12-volt LED lighting and 6 ½ Liter rear axle.

The cockpit of this historic Bentley has been given some TLC too, as it is now dressed in red leather with red piping and contrasting black carpets. The original four-spoke steering wheels has been retained, and despite being almost 97 years old, the original dials and gauges are in fully functional condition. According to the vendor, the car has only 12,700 miles (20,439 km) on the odo and “runs like a dream”.

Its future owner will only have to reintroduce it to the road and perhaps enter iconic events such as the Mille Miglia and the Flying Scotsman, putting its 1920s racing pedigree to good use. To do so, they will have to check out the online ad on DMHistorics, where the 3-Liter is listed for £285,000 ($381,230).
