With the new generation Note finally up for grabs in Japan, Nissan is now getting ready to start rolling out an all-wheel drive variant of the compact car for the local market.
The Note e-Power AWD features the brand’s e-Power electrified powertrain with two electric motors, one on each axle, which results in improved grip on slippery surfaces, increased output over the two-wheel drive model and better overall performance.

Unlike a conventional hybrid, where both the engine and the electric motor power the wheels, the HR12DE 1.2-liter naturally aspirated three-cylinder acts solely as a range extender to recharge the battery. The car also features regenerative braking that recuperates the energy during deceleration and stores it in the battery for later use.
Nissan has yet to fully detail the Note e-Power AWD lineup, but it will launch with all the bells and whistles as its two-wheel sibling, including the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster and a selection of driver assistance gear. Nonetheless, they did disclose that it will be available in two grades, the S Four and the X Four. Pricing will start at 2,288,000 yen ($22,106) and 2,445,300 yen ($23,626) respectively.
As for the 2021 Note 2WD that was unveiled last month, it went on sale today in Japan and is available in three trim levels. The range kicks off with the base S, priced at 2,029,500 yen ($19,609), while the mid-spec F and the top-of-the-line X are priced from 2,054,800 yen ($19,853) and 2,186,800 yen ($21,128) respectively.
