AC Schnitzer’s car for this year’s ‘Tune it! Safe!’ campaign is a BMW M850i xDrive Coupe, modified to look like a law enforcement vehicle. Its goal however is to raise awareness regarding homologated and safe tuning.

In terms of performance, the twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter gasoline V8 unit now produces 612 HP (620 PS) and 619 lb-ft (840 Nm) of torque, an increase of 89 HP (90 PS) and 66 lb-ft (90 Nm) over stock.

Other improvements include the AC Schnitzer sports exhaust with Carbon Sport tailpipes, a lowered suspension (20-30 mm at the front and 20-25 mm at the rear), and a set of weight-optimized AC3 Flow-forming wheels in matte anthracite, measuring 21-inches in diameter.

Speaking of visual treats, the car is also equipped with custom carbon fiber front spoiler elements, carbon front splitter, side wings, side skirts, rear diffuser and trunk lid spoiler. In order to end up with a “law enforcement appearance”, the 8-Series was wrapped with an official Foliatec decor and fitted with a Hella RTK 7 police signaling system with Proflash Warning Lights.

Inside, you’ve got the tuner’s aluminum gear shift paddle set (black anodized), aluminum pedals and footrest, aluminum key holder, plus an iDrive controller cover.

“The joint ‘Tuning Project’, which is financed exclusively by sponsors, shows once again that tuning from Germany can make the hearts of car fans beat faster and still be safe,” stated the tuner.

AC Schnitzer will showcase this vehicle at BMW Welt in Munich starting today, followed by other various exhibitions and events.
