Are you in the market for a true off-road warrior with an open bed on top of the rear axle that won’t let you down, no matter what you throw at it? How about a fully-restored 1986 Toyota Pickup Xtra Cab?
The classic vehicle, also known as the Hilux in some markets, is one of the most recognizable in the pickup truck segment, and in this instance, it underwent full restoration and presents itself in factory-fresh condition.
Our Review: 2019 Toyota HiLux Rugged X Likes To Get Down And Dirty
Offered for sale on Hyman with an asking price of $47,500, which would otherwise get you almost two base 2021 Tacomas, or a well-specced 2021 Tundra, it’s dressed in a period-popular beige exterior color and comes with the mandatory all-terrain tires from BFGoodrich, trail lights on top of the chrome bed bar and a very generous ground clearance.
The cabin has been superbly re-done, sporting a beige and brown color combo, with cloth and vinyl accents. Besides the modern-day (well, sort of) MP3 player mounted in the center console, you won’t find much else from this century inside, as this 34-year old Pickup otherwise retains the original amenities, such as the heater, cigarette lighter 12V socket and that’s about it.
The 2.4-liter 22R-E engine, with fuel injection, was taken care of during the restoration process, and while the vendor did not say whether it was tuned, the original mill pumped out 105-horsepower and 136 pound-feet (185 Nm) of torque. The power unit works in concert with an automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.
