ABT Sportsline has launched a new power upgrade for the VW Group’s 1.5-liter TSI petrol engine.

Powering a wide range of vehicles, from the Volkswagen Polo to the Tiguan, and from the Audi A1 to the Seat Tarraco and Skoda Superb, it pushes out 150 PS (148 HP / 110 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque without any outside intervention.

If that’s not enough (and it never is, obviously), those figures can be increased to a more satisfying 190 PS (187 HP / 140 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) respectively with the tuner’s new Engine Control Unit, which is IP67 rated for dust and water protection, with the glued housing, plug insulation and Gore-Tex membrane.

In order to protect the internal components, the ECU does not unleash full power until the engine is warm, and at least on paper, promises to improve the fuel economy by making the car easier to drive in a higher gear than usual.

The part, which can be fitted by handy enthusiasts at home, is available at an introductory price of €999 ($1,217) in Germany, and €1,249 ($1,522) afterwards, and is adapted to each vehicle (full list available below).

If you’d like something more exclusive for your Audi, Seat, Skoda or Volkswagen, then ABT has other parts on the shelves. Depending on the model, these vary from crazy power upgrades to bigger wheels available in different patterns and finishes and discreet body add-ons, to name but a few.

Specialized in modifying cars from the Volkswagen Group, the German tuner can add a dose of personalization to the cockpit too, with the dedicated entrance lights greeting users upon opening the doors, ABT-branded switch caps and gearshift covers, and others.
