2022 Audi S8 Going Under The Knife For A Minor Facelift

Spy photographers recently caught the facelifted Audi A8 and now they’ve snapped the updated S8 playing in the snow.

Looking instantly recognizable, the sedan will receive a minor refreshing that includes a number of updates to the front end.

As you can see, the S8 will adopt an all-new grille that eschews horizontal chrome bars for a mesh pattern that is similar to what’s found on the S3. The grille is flanked by restyled headlights, which feature a dip near the outside edges. Last but not least, there’s a lightly revised bumper.

Additional changes are limited, but the model will apparently have new side skirts and an updated rear bumper. We can also see a familiar four-tailpipe exhaust system that is a hallmark of the S8.

Spy photographers haven’t gotten a glimpse of the interior, but changes are expected to be minor. While nothing is official, there could be an updated infotainment system as well as more advanced safety features.

Since this is just a minor facelift, we can expect the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine to carryover. It currently produces 563 hp (420 kW / 571 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque.

In the current model, the engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sends power to a standard all-wheel drive system with a quattro sport rear differential. This setup enables the car to run from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.8 seconds, before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Audi has been tight-lipped about the car, but the facelifted A8 and S8 are expected to debut late this year.
