McLaren has just delivered its 1,000th new vehicle in Canada, less than a decade after the brand first entered the market in 2012.
Finished in Onyx Black to mirror the first McLaren shipped in Canada (a black 12C), the milestone supercar in question is a 720S Coupe and was delivered from the same Toronto dealership, one of the company’s three retailers locally, as its predecessor.

“The 1,000th new car delivery was a wonderfully positive end-point to a challenging year in 2020”, said the Pfaff Automotive Partners (official McLaren importer and owner of the Toronto and Vancouver retail locations) President and CEO, Christopher Pfaff. “Across our company, we are all passionate motorsports enthusiasts, and love what the McLaren brand stands for – a commitment to industry-leading technology, high performance, and constant innovation.”
Available in three specifications, base, Luxury and Performance, the 720S is part of McLaren’s Super Series family, alongside the 720S Spider and 765LT. It entered production in Woking, UK, in 2017, and has impressed enthusiasts ever since with its neck-snapping real-world performance, especially at the drag strip, where it made a solid name for itself by being blistering fast.
The British supercar uses a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that develops 710 HP (720 PS / 530 kW) at 7,500 rpm and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque at 5,500 rpm, mated to a seven-speed transmission. It tips the scales at just 2,828 lbs (1,283 kg) dry and needs just 2.8 seconds to hit the 60 mph (96 km/h) mark from a standstill officially.
Furthermore, it does the nought to 124 mph (0-200 km/h) sprint in 7.8 seconds, can run the quarter mile in 10.3 seconds and will top out at 212 mph (341 km/h).
