There’s something exciting in seeing a sports car or supercar go off-roading. A few days ago, Singer released two lifted 911s commissioned by a wealthy customer. And now we have an insight, albeit by a different company, into just how much work is involved in making something like this happen.

YouTube’s “B is for Build” is lifting a Lamborghini Huracan to get it ready to compete in this year’s Mint 400 off-road race. The race is one of the world’s great ones and is the subject of the book and film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, though you could be forgiven for not knowing that.

The race, as the name suggests, is a roughly 400 mile race through the Nevada desert, so the Lamborghini needs to be pretty tough.

The channel’s latest video shows the process of fabricating and fitting control arms, bump stops, and more. After the whole set up is fitted with some Mustang GT brake discs, it becomes so heavy that it’s difficult to lift with one arm.

That wouldn’t be ideal for a Lamborghini, but for a #Jumpacan, it makes a lot of sense. The car will be powered by a Chevrolet LS V8, like one of the channel’s previous builds.

The high-riding Huracan is the spiritual successor to the channel’s off-road Corvette, so the team has experience making sports car go where they oughtn’t to be.

Unfortunately, the lifted Lambo isn’t quite done yet, so we don’t know quite what it will look like, but we should find out soon, since the Mint 400 is being held from March 3 to 7.
