Last month, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S reclaimed the Nurburgring Nordschleife crown from the Porsche Panamera Turbo S, beating it by up to six seconds, but can it pull the same trick on a different track?
Enter SportAuto and their skilled driver Uwe Sener, who put both cars through their paces on the Hockenheim GP and subjected them to a fast lap, with the Merc riding on 275/35R21 front and 315/30R21 rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 M01 tires and the Porsche equipped with 275/35R21 front and 325/30R21 rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ND0 rubber.

Before moving on to the clip, let’s go through the specs, starting with the GT 63 S, which has 639 PS (630 HP / 470 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque produced by its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8. This engine is paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, allowing it to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 315 km/h (196 mph).
Replacing the old Turbo model, the 2021 Panamera Turbo S also packs a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, but with 630 PS (621 HP / 463 kW) and 820 Nm (605 lb-ft), mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. With the Sport Chrono Package, Porsche claims that it can reach a top speed of 315 km/h (196 mph) and do the 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 3.1 seconds.
