Seat has introduced a new 2.0-liter petrol unit for the Tarraco mid-size SUV, which joins the model’s powertrain family that counts a number of TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines as well as a plug-in hybrid.
The TSI mill pumps out 245 PS (242 HP / 180 kW), which is identical to that of the plug-in hybrid variant that’s already on sale, and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque between 1,600 and 4,300 rpm, 30 Nm (22 lb-ft) less than its electrified sibling.

The official 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration is dealt with in 6.2 seconds, around 1 second quicker than the Tarraco e-Hybrid, and flat-out, it will do 228 km/h (142 mph). The model, which makes use of a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and 4Drive all-wheel drive, returns between 8.4 and 9.2 l/100 km (28-25.6 mpg US) combined on the WLTP cycle and emits 191-208 g/km of CO2.
Designed and developed at Seat’s headquarters in Martorell, Spain, the new Tarraco 2.0 TSI, which is available in the FR and Xcellence trim levels, with five or seven seats, will enter production at the Volkswagen Group’s plant in Wolfsburg, Germany. The facility is also in charge of putting together the second generation Tiguan, among other vehicles.
Pricing details have yet to be announced, but the regular Tarraco lineup starts from €30,598.66 ($37,069) for the Style in Germany, which packs a 2.0-liter TDI diesel with 150 PS (148 HP / 110 kW), mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The Xcellence and FR, on the other hand, can be had from €34,010.42 ($41,202) and €35,472.61 ($42,973) respectively. In Spain, the Style and Xcellence start at €31,390 ($38,027) and €34,890 ($42,267) respectively, while the FR has an MSRP of €36,390 ($44,084).
