CES usually hosts a handful of vehicle debuts, but this year was different as there wasn’t a major unveiling like the Chevrolet Bolt or Chrysler Portal concept.
Instead, it’s shaping up to the Commercial EV Show as GM introduced the BrightDrop EV600. That theme is continuing with the new Cenntro CityPorter.
Billed as a purpose-built last-mile electric delivery van, the CityPorter is a box on wheels. While it’s not exactly a thing of beauty, the van has a “generous” payload capacity of 5,700 lbs (2,585 kg) and 636 square feet (59 square meters) of cargo room.

The company didn’t say much about performance specifications, but confirmed the CityPorter will have a range of up to 220 miles (354 km) on a single charge. However, you might want to avoid highways as the top speed is just 60 mph (96 km/h).
The interior appears pretty bare bones, but we can see an infotainment system and a digital display that resides between analog gauges. The company also said the van will be equipped with state-of-the-art telematics which allow for “optimizing route planning, reducing downtime and delivering true big data management.”
Cenntro plans to showcase the CityPorter to US fleets later this year and is “looking at opportunities to engage in demo programs for US and EU fleets.” To support the launch, the company will expand their infrastructure in the United States and Europe as well as establish manufacturing sites on both continents. As CEO Peter Wang explained, “We intend to move closer to our customers as we expand our products portfolio.”
