Everyone has heard the warnings about how dangerous it is to use a mobile phone while driving, and this video is a prime example of what can go wrong if you do.

This short clip shows a motorist using his smartphone to film a truck passing on the opposite side of the road. The truck is carrying a rather bizarre object that almost looks like a massive car hubcap, except for the fact that it is at least 20-feet across. It’d be normal to look at something like this on the road for a second or two, but evidently, using a phone to film it proved to be too much of a distraction for this driver.

Immediately after filming the truck, the driver repositions his phone so it’s pointing out of the windshield and it’s at this time that they driver realized they had made a grave error.

In the few seconds that the driver was distracted, they had gently swerved to the left and after passing through the intersection, slammed directly into a lamp post.

We don’t have any photos or videos of the car after the collision, but given the speed at which it was traveling, think it’s fair to assume that quite a lot of damage was done.
