Peugeot may be a little late to the sporty family car party, but they’re here nonetheless, with a plug-in hybrid version of the latest 508.
Unveiled last year and launched in Europe this month, the brand’s most powerful series production road car ever was recently subjected to two fast laps of the Bugatti Circuit. Mind you, they were not timed, yet the run was filmed from the cockpit and it’s a good opportunity to check out the 508 PSE (Peugeot Sport Engineered) first-hand.

For the 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint, Peugeot claims 5.2 seconds, whereas flat-out, the model will hit 155 mph (250 km/h). A 1.6-liter turbocharged engine connected to an eight-speed transmission and two electric motors work together to develop a combined 355 HP (360 PS / 265 kW) and 384 lb-ft (520 Nm) of torque
The 11.5 kWh battery gives it a zero-emission range of 26 miles (42 km) and helps keep the CO2 emissions and fuel consumption in check, with 46 g/km and a WLTP-rated 2 l/100 km (117.6 mpg US).
The official starting price of the 508 PSE in Germany is €66,640 ($80,938) for the liftback and €67,940 ($82,517) for the estate, and all cars feature a sporty body kit, comprising of the new bumper with winglets, grille, side skirts and diffuser, and 20-inch wheels.
The exclusive upholstery, i-Cockpit, 10-inch infotainment system, head-up display, heated front seats, automatic emergency braking, night vision, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control are also present.
