The Corvette serves as the perfect halo car for GM, but these two renderings showcase what two more futuristic coupes from Chevrolet could look like.

Shared online through the General Motors Design page on Instagram, the concepts were created by Jingxu Zhan. While they may look similar, there are a number of key differences that distinguish them and would make both welcome additions to GM’s lineup.

The one pictured at the top has a traditional sports car shape with an elongated hood and a low-profile roof. It also includes sleek doors and massive wheels with an aggressive spoke design. The rear end sports thin LED taillights, a large section painted orange, and two rear diffuser fins that have also been painted orange.

Meanwhile, the second sports coupe has a slightly more futuristic design, thanks in part to the fact that there are translucent body panels over the rear wheels and decklid. Like the first concept, this one also has slim LED taillights but ditches the smooth and subtle curves of the first in favor of more angular lines and sharp creases along the body.

Of course, there’s no chance that General Motors will produce either one of these concepts, but they sure make for interesting design exercises.
