Jeep introduced the Grand Cherokee L last month and now Car & Driver is reporting the model will start at $38,490 when it goes on sale this spring.
Kicking things off is the entry-level Laredo trim which features LED lighting units, body-color components and 18-inch aluminum wheels.
Moving into the cabin, drivers will find a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8.4-inch infotainment system. The model also comes equipped with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an eight-way power driver’s seat and a manual-folding third-row bench. Other highlights include a six-speaker audio system, passive entry and a dual-zone automatic climate control system.

On the safety front, the model comes equipped with an assortment of driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control with stop and go, blind-spot monitoring, and full-speed collision warning with active braking and pedestrian / cyclist detection. Other safety features include rear park assist, rear cross path alert, and lane departure warning with lane keep assist.
Power is provided by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that produces 290 hp (216 kW / 294 PS) and 257 lb-ft (348 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard rear-wheel drive system. Four-wheel drive is optional, but there’s no word on pricing at this point.
Moving up the trim ladder is the Grand Cherokee L Limited, which will reportedly begin at $45,490. That’s a sizeable jump, but the model features a classier grille, a power liftgate and automatic high-beam headlights. They’re joined by LED fog lights and a remote start system.
Bigger changes occur in the cabin as the Limited adds Capri leather, a power passenger seat and heated seats in the first two rows. Other niceties include a heated leather steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and an ambient lighting system. Buyers will also find a driver’s seat memory system, a universal garage door opener and a 115-volt power outlet.
Customers looking for more luxury can opt for the $56,490 Grand Cherokee L Overland. It features a unique front fascia, premium LED lighting units and a panoramic sunroof. The model also sports bright chrome accents, rain-sensing wipers, a hands-free power liftgate and 20-inch aluminum wheels.
The interior is upgraded with perforated Nappa leather seats that feature heating and ventilation up front. There’s also a power steering wheel, wood trim and a five color ambient lighting system. Rounding out the highlights are a power-folding third-row bench, GPS navigation and a nine-speaker Alpine audio system with a subwoofer.
The upgrades don’t end there as the Overland has an air suspension with adaptive damping. Buyers can also opt for a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 357 hp (268 kW / 362 PS) and 390 lb-ft (520 Nm) of torque.
Sitting at the top of the range is the Grand Cherokee L Summit, which starts at $60,490. It has a slightly revised exterior with a gloss black roof and platinum chrome accents.
Inside, there’s quilted Nappa leather seats with 12-way power adjustment as well as memory and heating, ventilation and massage functions. Other highlights include a four-zone automatic climate control system, a second-row center console and a larger 10.1-inch infotainment system with GPS navigation.
The range-topper comes with additional driver assistance systems including drowsy driver detection, traffic sign recognition, parallel / perpendicular park assist and a 360° surround view camera. However, the real highlight is active driving assist which is a Level 2 semi-autonomous driving system that promises “hands-free driving at all speeds.”
