Skoda and ABT Sportsline have teamed up to create the Scala Edition S, a special version of the compact hatchback, in Germany.
Limited to 500 units initially, it is based on the Monte Carlo grade, to which it adds more power and a sportier design inside and out.
The 1.5-liter TSI petrol engine was upgraded to develop 190 PS (187 HP / 140 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque, a 40 PS (39 HP / 29 kW) and 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) improvement over the stock variant, and is hooked up to a six-speed manual transmission.

It features a sports suspension that lowers ride height by 15 mm (0.6 in), along with a slightly upgraded exterior with the addition of the front apron, roof spoiler and rear diffuser element.
Available in Velvet Red, Black Magic Pearl and Steel Gray, the Scala Edition S rides on ABT’s 18-inch ER-C18 wheels and features the Monte Carlo’s black design elements on the grille, side mirror casings and side skirts, tinted rear windows, and LED head- and taillights with dynamic turn signals.
Inside, the limited edition warm hatch has front sports seats wrapped in black fabric, a multi-function sports steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and carbon trim. Standard equipment also includes the Bolero infotainment system, Bluetooth, and Care Connect that provides remote vehicle access and other assistance services.
The new Scala Edition S will launch next week with a recommended retail price of €33,790 ($40,969).
