While Volkswagen is betting big on the ID.3 all-electric compact hatch, the venerable Golf is still going strong and several versions have received electrification, with the range topper being the all-new Golf GTE.
Urban Motors has tuned the hybrid hot hatch, giving it a new set of wheels, a lowering kit and a custom wrap. The GTE now rides on Barracuda Project 3.0 rims from the Ultralight Series that measure 8.5×20 inches, are shod in Continental Sport Contact 6 235/35 tires and sport a black milled finish with the spoke edges wrapped in blue, complementing the partial wrap applied to this car’s gray body.

The plug-in hybrid hot hatch has also been fitted with a lowering kit. Signed by KW, the coilover Variant 3 set has lowered the ride height by around 45 mm (1.8 in) at both ends and has allegedly improved the car’s handling.
The powertrain has remained stock, meaning that this Golf GTE is powered by a 1.4-liter turbo-four petrol engine rated at 147 HP, mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and a 112 HP electric motor, backed up by a 13 kWh battery. Total output stands at 242 HP and the car has a combined torque of 295 lb-ft (400 Nm), for a 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) of 6.7 seconds and a 140 mph (225 km/h) top speed. In all-electric mode it has a driving range of around 37 miles (60 km), at speeds up to 81 mph (130 km/h).
