While most car enthusiasts are still skeptical when it comes to EVs, it is becoming increasingly obvious that developing an ICE vehicle that accelerates quicker than an electric one is becoming very difficult. This video demonstrates this perfectly.
In one corner we have the C8 Corvette Stingray. Outfitted with a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8, it can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 3 seconds, an incredible figure when you remember that it is rear-wheel drive and has less than 500 hp. It is among the most accelerative sports cars on the market but in a straight line, has its work cut out for it while racing a Tesla Model Y Performance.

Just like the Model 3 Performance that came before it, the flagship version of the Model Y rocks a pair of electric motors producing a combined 456 hp and 497 lb-ft (674 Nm) of torque. In this video from Edmunds, it puts up a good fight against a Rapid Blue C8 Corvette.
In the first race from a standing start, the two sprint off the line neck-and-neck but as the speeds start to build, it is the Chevrolet that begins to slowly pull away. The second race starts out a little different as it is the Tesla that gets the better launch and ekes out a small lead over the Corvette but once again, as the speeds increase, it is the Chevy that’s able to cross the finish line first.
As for the third, and final, race you might want to take a look for yourselves in the video that follows.
