Few vehicles have generated quite as many headlines in recent months as the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX and in this review, we get to hear two very different opinions on it.
The review comes courtesy of Hagerty and features freelance automotive journalist and driving coach Kevin Madsen as well as experienced race car driver Robb Holland. It is Madsen who has the opportunity to drive it first before Holland jumps behind the wheel.

Madsen’s reviews starts out at the track. Of course, the insane pickup truck was not designed with track performance in mind, so he quickly takes it off-road and tests out the Baja mode. As you’d imagine, the TRX thrives across the dirt and gravel and he has very few negative things to say, although he does comment that it would be nice if the drivetrain could be switched into rear-wheel drive.
Holland then tests the truck and he isn’t so kind. He says it has terrible on-track handling characteristics but, like Madsen, is very impressed with how it handles tricky off-road environments.
What makes the Ram 1500 TRX so incredible is its 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 engine that churns out 702 hp and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque. Not only does that make it the most powerful pickup truck on the market, but it even allows it to out-accelerate a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 in ideal conditions.
