The world of Forza Horizon is broadening this March, as the Microsoft Studios game will leave the exclusivity of Microsoft’s platforms and will head to Steam.
The arcade racing game will hit the Steam Store on March 9 this year, which is good news to those who don’t have an Xbox or would prefer not to buy it from the Microsoft Store for PC. Although it does not appear to be available for Mac, the game will be accessible to more people through Steam, a hugely popular video game distribution service.

Forza Horizon 4 launched in 2018, the fourth in Microsoft’s series of openly arcade-y racing games. The game, set in the UK, relishes in the over-the-top features and includes a variety of cars ranging from McLarens to the Peel P50 microcar.
In all, there are more than 450 cars available and islands to explore in downloadable content. These include a LEGO island, a Best of Bond cars theme pack, and loads more. A Hot Wheels Legends car pack is also on the docket, though that one hasn’t been released yet, so you might have to wait a little. Thanks to cross-platform compatibility, PC players will be able to play online with Xbox players, which should help expand the game’s base at any given point.
Game developer Turn 10 hasn’t forgotten fans of sim racing. The latest installment in the Forza Motorsport series was announced last summer and should be released late this year. Available for the Xbox Series X console, it will reportedly be capable of 4K resolution at 60 fps, which matters to sim racers and has long been more than consoles could manage.
