Honda’s new HR-V crossover has only just been unveiled, but the Japanese brand is wasting no time getting their options catalog readied before sales open up in March.

The HR-V (also known as the Vezel in its home market) is already being criticized for looking too much like Mazda’s CX-30 and MG’s ZS. Yet the design, which is admittedly cleaner than the outgoing model, is set to offer the ability to express one’s personality.

During the digital unveiling, it was confirmed that the Vezel’s “Play” trim would feature dual-tone paint schemes. And now, it seems Honda is raising the bar — albeit it very slightly — with two accessory lines to further ‘enhance’ the exterior.

These new genuine accessories feature two distinct lines: Urban Style and Casual Style. The Urban style offers revised front and rear bumper garnishes with touches of chrome, as well as a side garnish. For those wanting to be more, er, casual in their approach, you can opt for the same bumper treatment in a copper-bronze tone.

Also available is an Urban Style rear spoiler, and Casual Style mirror caps. Admittedly it’s nothing groundbreaking, but perhaps enough to inject a little bit of pizzazz into what Honda describes as a “coupe-inspired design“.

The accessory prices haven’t been released yet, nor has the pricing strategy of the HR-V or Vezel, which will go on sale in April. What we do know is that Japan will be getting two drivetrains derived from the smaller Honda Fit: a 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine with or without the assistance of a self-charging hybrid system. Europe’s HR-V will ditch the outgoing model’s diesel and pure-petrol variants for a single hybrid offering with details to be released.

There’s still no word on when the North American derivative of the HR-V will appear on US shores — or whether US customers will be able to sample the delights of the Urban and Casual Style accessory packs. What we do know is that the North American HR-V will be designed to “meet the distinct needs of U.S. customers, and will differ from the Honda Vezel/HR-V that will be introduced in other regions.” Watch this space.
