Jeep is introducing a new factory feature for the Wrangler that promises to offer “a different driving experience”. The newly-announced half-door option brings the window sills farther down, giving occupants even more open-air freedom and a better view when off-roading.

The half-door option starts at $2,350 for the two-door Wrangler and be ordered from the factory in body-matching colors. But you aren’t paying more to get less; your Wrangler actually comes with regular doors, as well as these half doors that can be used both on and off-road.

Offered on the Sport, Rubicon, Sahara, Rubicon 392, and 4xe models, the half doors can be swapped out quickly and use the same hinges and electric connections as the regular door. As such, they work with power mirrors, blind-spot detection, passive and non-passive door handles, and power locks.

The windows, meanwhile, are made of plastic and don’t roll up or down. Instead, they can be slid into the door or taken out entirely without any tools. Despite that, Jeep claims they are weather tight and they can be ordered to fit the base soft top or the premium soft top.

As a factory MOPAR part, the doors are made of the same steel construction as the high-top doors and are covered under Jeep’s new-vehicle 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.

Unfortunately, a Jeep spokesperson told us that the option is only available on new Wranglers and currently can’t be ordered as a standalone option for older JLs. Available in the US and Canada, pricing is as follows:
