The coronavirus pandemic has thrown the auto show calendar into chaos and things have gotten so crazy that the Los Angeles Auto Show has now moved back to November.
The show didn’t say much about the move, but this year’s event is now slated to run from November 19-28 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
This is interesting as the show was originally postponed from November 18-29 of 2020 to May 19-31 of 2021. With the latest move, the event is now slated to take place a full year later.

The decision to postpone the Los Angeles Auto Show for a second time is no doubt related to the continuing coronavirus pandemic. While people are now getting vaccinated, the rollout has been slow and it could be months before much of the population is protected.
On top of this, California remains a coronavirus hot spot as LA Public Health reported 3,434 new cases and 141 new deaths on February 10th. However, CDC data shows the situation has been improving as Los Angeles county has seen declines in their seven day totals for cases, deaths and hospital admissions.
With the latest move, this year’s auto show calendar is heavily stacked as the New York Auto Show is slated to run from August 19-29. It will be followed by Motor Bella in September, which is essentially a reimagined and relocated version of the North American International Auto Show. That same month, IAA Munich will kick off in Germany as the successor to the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Of course, none of these dates are set in stone as large public events are at the mercy of public health officials and the situation on the ground. As a result, it’s possible the auto shows could be moved yet again.
