Roughly a month after the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L was unveiled, one example has been snapped in the United Arab Emirates by providing us with our first look at the vehicle in the real world.

While this Grand Cherokee L that was photographed by a reader of Instagram channel Kurdistan Automotive Blog may look like a customer car given the lack of camouflage and obvious testing equipment, it is understood that Jeep brought the vehicle to the UAE for hot-weather testing. Snapped at a gas station, it’s hard not to be taken aback by the size of the SUV and the presence it has.

All up, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L measures 204.9 inches (5.2 meters) long and has a wheelbase of 121.7 inches (3 meters). The front end of the SUV is quite similar to the Grand Wagoneer concept (which will soon spawn a production model) thanks to its slim, horizontal headlights and a seven-slate grille. This particular prototype is also sitting on black wheels while also sporting black wheel arches, rocker panels, and a black rear bumper.

Four variants will be sold in the United States, consisting of the Grand Cherokee L Laredo, Limited, Overland, and Summit. Regardless of which model customers opt for, all feature an interior vastly different than any other current Jeep model that includes an 8.4-inch touchscreen as standard or an optional 10.1-inch touchscreen.

The entry-level powertrain takes the form of Jeep’s Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 rated at 290 hp and 257 lb-ft of torque. Customers can also opt for a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 357 hp and 390 lb-ft.
