A rival to the likes of the BMW 3-Series, Audi A4, Jaguar XE, Volvo S60/V60 and Alfa Romeo Giulia, the 2022 C-Class is expected with an evolutionary design up front and a rear end inspired by its bigger siblings, such as the E-Class and CLS, and also the smaller CLA.

Power will be supplied by a host of electrified units, Mercedes has confirmed, in a first for one of their series models. While details concerning the engine lineup have yet to surface, it is expected to comprise of mild-hybrids at the lower end and plug-in hybrids for the upper specs. Electric assistance is reportedly planned for both petrol and diesel offerings, though the oil burners will, in all likelihood, be limited to Europe, where the car will launch for the 2021 MY.

In the United States, it should arrive as a 2022 model, initially, in all likelihood, in the C300 spec with approximately 250 HP, standard rear-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. It will be followed by another PHEV version, while the AMG variant, which will allegedly have over 500 HP, could be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-four PHEV powertrain.
