Unlike most new cars, the Hyundai Bayon has had a rather restrained teaser campaign, but it is about to end anyway as the subcompact crossover will be officially presented next week.

In a recent social media post, the Korean automaker has announced that it will premiere on March 2, at 10:00 a.m. CET (4:00 a.m. ET), and the grand unveiling is expected to be streamed live over the web.

Named after the Bayonne city in France, as it is considered a European product, the B-segment crossover will be positioned under the Kona. It is understood to share many components with the i20 supermini, which was renewed for 2020.

Most (if not all) of the engine lineup should also come from its hatchback sibling, though it remains to be seen whether it will get the 201 HP and 202 lb-ft (275 Nm) of torque 1.6-iter turbo unit powering the i20 N hot hatch. All versions of the Bayon will be strictly offered with front-wheel drive.

Previous teasers have revealed a bold front end, with a tiny upper grille, giant lower grille and split headlamp design, similar to the Nexo and Kona. The back end will feature an angular tailgate with the Hyundai logo in the middle and V-shaped LED taillights on each side that appear to be joined together by a thin light strip.

Subsequent to its world premiere scheduled for next Tuesday, the Bayon subcompact crossover is expected to launch in Europe in the first half of the year.
