The BMW X7 is popular with politicians, executives and celebrities, so INKAS has decided to offer the world’s first armored variant.

Designed to offer exceptional levels of protection and comfort, the armored X7 doesn’t look terribly special at first glance. However, a closer look will reveal thick bullet-resistant glass.

Of course, that’s just the tip of the iceberg as the X7 offers 360° protection despite offering amenities such as a panoramic sunroof. The company didn’t go into many specifics, but noted the vehicle has a protected passenger compartment, a reinforced suspension, run flat tires, and protection for the battery as well as critical electrical systems. Thanks to these changes, the crossover offers “protection from top to bottom and even ensures that no bullets can penetrate the door seals.”

Speaking of bullets, the X7 meets the CEN 1063 BR6 ballistic standard and can withstand attacks from rifles firing 7.62x51mm or .308 Winchester FMJ ammunition. The crossover also protects occupants from explosions, including two hand grenades detonated simultaneously.

While the standard model offers impressive levels of protection, customers can purchase upgrades such as a smoke screen system, an air filtration system and an engine bay fire suppression system. The model can also be outfitted with sirens, emergency lights and a public address system.

Under the hood, there’s a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that produces 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS) in the xDrive40i variant. Customers can also opt for a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 that produces up to 612 hp (456 kW / 620 PS). Regardless of which engine is selected, all are connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.
