If you happen to own a John Cooper Works GP and want to take your hot hatch for a drive during winter, then MINI has you covered.
The carmaker has just launched a new, model-specific tire/wheel package for its flagship Hatch model that will allow owners to experience the performance of the wild-looking JCW GP “even on snowy tracks”.
The package includes a set of Hankook 195/45 high-performance winter tires that are specially developed for the JCW GP and are mounted on model-specific 18-inch light-alloy wheels. MINI GPs normally come with 225/35 summer tires on wider 18-inch alloy wheels.

The new winter tire/wheel combo ensures that owners of the JCW GP will not be limited by heavy weather conditions, with MINI promising that the agility and precise handling character of their most hardcore model on offer are retained. The tires have an asymmetric tread design with specially shaped sides and grooves to optimize both traction and braking on snow-covered roads.
The MINI JCW GP is limited to 3,000 examples and features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 301 HP (306 PS) and 331 lb-ft (450 Nm). Power goes to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission which also features an integrated mechanical differential lock.
The mechanical differential lock is also “communicating” with the car’s stability control and can produce an up to 31 percent locking effect. The brakes utilize a set of four-piston calipers at the front and single calipers at the rear.
