While Spain’s Madrid region was buried under the heaviest snowfall in 50 years last month, BMW’s local branch decided to make the best of it by unleashing the new M3 on the Jarama racetrack, located north of the capital city.

Dubbed ‘adrenalina pura’, or ‘pure adrenaline’ in English, the 1-minute long video shows the sports sedan take on the snow-covered circuit with a pro-racing driver behind the wheel, who performed several elegant drifts and power slides in the Competition version of the car.

Packing a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, the M3 Competition has 503 HP (510 PS / 375 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque available on tap. In the sportiest driving mode, it needs just 3.8 seconds to sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h), and with the optional M Driver’s Package, it will max out at 180 mph (290 km/h). The base model gets the same engine, albeit with 473 HP (479 PS / 352 kW) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm).

Aside from the eight-speed automatic transmission is a six-speed manual gearbox, which is unique in the segment, and starting this summer, the new M3 will also launch with an M-tuned xDrive all-wheel drive system, in a premiere for the model.

In Spain, where the following video was shot, the 2021 M3 Competition has a starting price of €111,200, which equals to $133,778 at the current exchange rates, while in Germany, it can be had from €89,500 ($107,672). In the United States, the M3 Competition is accompanied by a $72,800 MSRP, and the base model starts at $69,900.
