A newly-delivered 2021 Ram 1500 TRX owned by a YouTuber has encountered a serious mechanical issue while off-roading.
This particular TRX is owned by Ben Hardy from Utah and he recently took it to an off-road course alongside a Ford F-150 Raptor for some testing. Everything seemed to be going well until the transmission suddenly decided to stop changing gears and various warning lights flashed across the instrument cluster.
After pulling over, the YouTuber found the pickup dumping fluid onto the dirt. He initially thought he may have broken one of the axles and after getting a brief tow from the F-150 Raptor, decided it would be a good idea to drive the TRX to the nearest dealership, by which time the transmission was badly slipping and the Ram kept on shutting off.

A quick investigation from the dealer found that the truck had blown a transmission line, hence all the fluid that could be seen leaking out. This ultimately led to the transmission being completed drained of fluid. The fate of the gearbox was sealed when the YouTuber decided to keep on driving the truck after it first malfunctioned.
Before long, it was determined that the entire transmission needs to be replaced, a job which Hardy says Ram is doing free of charge. It’s possible the transmission could have been saved if the truck was parked up in the desert and towed away but fortunately, it is still under warranty. Ram is allegedly investigating what caused the transmission line to break.
