Skoda is preparing a mid-cycle refresh for the Kodiaq, which was launched in 2016 and is on sale in 60 markets worldwide. The facelifted model will premiere on April 13 with tweaked front and rear ends.
The official sketches released by the Czech automaker preview the mid-size SUV’s design updates. These include a redesigned bonnet, more upright grille, slender LED headlights, fog lamps mounted below, new bumper with wider lower air intake flanked by L-shaped elements, different apron and aluminum-look details.
Review: Skoda Kodiaq RS Is Aimed At A Rather Narrow Target Group
The taillights are also slimmer than before and previous scoops have revealed other updates at the back, such as the ‘Skoda’ lettering in the middle of the tailgate instead of the brand’s usual logo. The ‘Kodiaq’ logo was moved from the right to the left side and the roof-mounted spoiler appears to be slightly bigger. The rear bumper of the prototypes was almost identical, but it might be revised as well.
We still haven’t seen the cabin of the 2021 Kodiaq, but if anything, it should launch with new upholstery and trim, and perhaps a new infotainment system and digital instrument cluster, or at least new software.
Expect a few updates in the powertrain department too, though nothing major. In all likelihood, Skoda’s flagship high-rider will continue to be offered with petrol and diesel engines. The RS is understood to soldier on with a less polluting version of the same 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel that, in the current model, produces 240 PS (237 HP / 177 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque.
