Skoda is just minutes away from officially dropping the veils off the Kushaq. The small crossover, which was developed specifically for the Indian sub-continent, will be shown today, at 11:15 a.m. CET (6:15 a.m. ET), and the presentation is being streamed live.
Built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which was modified by the Czech automaker for the Indian market, it was previewed by last year’s Vision IN Concept. It sports a double front-light design, has Skoda’s corporate grille, large L-shaped taillights, protective plastic cladding on the lower parts of the body and a few other design tweaks.
Scoop: 2021 Skoda Kushaq Visits Europe, But Only As A Tourist
The official sketches released by the company these past few weeks have provided a glimpse inside, where it looks similar to Europe’s Kamiq. Don’t let this fool you, though, because it has nothing in common with it. The model features a freestanding infotainment system in the middle of the dashboard, digital instrumentation, a two-spoke steering wheel, electric windows and side mirrors, automatic climate control and probably a wireless charging pad for smartphones, in addition to lots of storage areas.
Skoda has already announced that the Kushaq will launch with two gasoline engines, with 1.0 and 1.5 liters in displacement. Depending on the power unit and grade, they will be coupled to a six-speed manual, six-speed automatic or seven-speed DSG transmission. Regardless of the selected configuration, all of them will have front-wheel drive, as an all-wheel drive system won’t be available at all.
