The 2022 Honda Civic has been revealed in patent and concept form, but now we’re getting a glimpse of the model in public.
Posted by a member of the CivicXI forums, the picture shows an undisguised car apparently on the streets of Beijing.
While the Civic’s appearance shouldn’t be much of a surprise at this point, it follows in the footsteps of the Accord and adopts a more conservative design. Starting up front, there’s a small protruding grille which is flanked by slimmer headlights. The model also has a wide lower air intake and C-shaped fog light housings.

Moving down the sides, we can see streamlined bodywork that appears pretty dull when compared to the current Civic. Additional details are hard to make out, but previous pictures have shown the model will have a gently sloping roof and an Accord-like greenhouse. We can also expect a tame rear end with large taillights and a trunk with an integrated spoiler.
Honda hasn’t said much about the upcoming model, but it will be offered in sedan and hatchback body styles. The coupe, as you may recall, has been dropped to due to low demand.
Engine options are expected to carryover and include an entry-level 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 158 hp (118 kW / 160 PS) and 138 lb-ft (187 Nm) of torque. It should be joined by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 174 hp (130 kW / 176 PS) and 162 lb-ft (220 Nm) of torque.
Honda has also confirmed plans for new Si and Type R variants. If they use carryover engines as well, we can expect them to have turbocharged 1.5- and 2.0-liter four-cylinders with outputs of 205 hp (153 kW / 208 PS) and 306 hp (228 kW / 310 PS).
