Porsche introduced the redesigned 911 GT3 earlier this year and now attention is turning to the even more extreme 911 GT3 RS.

Recently snapped undergoing testing, the high-performance model follows in the footsteps of the 911 GT3 as it adopts the same front bumper. However, there’s a different hood that likely features NACA ducts like its predecessor.

Moving further back, we can see front fender vents and a massive rear wing. The GT3 RS also adopts a unique engine cover that appears to have a third brake light in the center.

Porsche has been tight-lipped about the model, but it’s expected to use an upgraded version of the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six that powers the GT3. There it produces 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS) and 347 lb-ft (470 Nm) of torque. This enables the model to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 198 mph (318 km/h), when equipped with the PDK gearbox.

The GT3 RS will undoubtedly be more powerful, but exact numbers remain a mystery. However, speculation has suggested the car could have between 532-572 hp (397-427 kW / 540-580 PS). That would be bump over its predecessor, which packed 513 hp (383 kW / 520 PS) and could run from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds.

The 911 GT3 RS is expected to be introduced later this year, but rumors have suggested the model could be delayed over a possible engine certification issue.
