The R35-generation Nissan GT-R has great performance thanks, in no small part, to its all-wheel drive system and brutal launch control system that allows it to rocket off the line at staggering speeds.
This particular GT-R is a little different than most. Not too concerned about chasing quick acceleration times, the owner of this GT-R, BMX rider Francisco Zurita, set about extensively modifying the car for the SEMA Show in 2012. Sadly for Zurita, one of the prop shafts broke during the process of the build so the team behind the car decided to just run it with rear-wheel drive.

Various other modifications have been made to the car, allowing its 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 to pump out no less than 700 hp through the rear wheels. As with any many modified GT-Rs, the one also features a widebody kit, bespoke wheels, and an aftermarket exhaust system. It looks very menacing and as this video reveals, is not to be underestimated, even though it may ‘only’ be rear-wheel drive.
Featured in a ‘This vs. That’ video from Hoonigan, the GT-R is pitted against a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro race car powered by a naturally aspirated LS3 V8 with approximately 500 hp.
So, can the GT-R, which has 200 HP more but not its usual all-wheel drive advantage, beat a bonafide racing car in a straight line?
