Not long after production of the 2022 Acura MDX commenced, the car manufacturer has released a high-paced video highlighting the racing history of Acura while also detailing the origins of the SUV.
The video starts off by taking a look back at famed Acura models including the Integra and Legend, both of which offered excellent levels of performance in their day. Acura then briefly discusses the iconic NSX, including its performance and timeless exterior design.

The Japanese car manufacturer then overviews some of its racing success, before shifting focus to the MDX itself, revealing that its engine shares over 400 components with the engine of the race-winning ARX-05 race car. Acura adds that it is revisiting its performance roots, equipping the MDX with double-wishbone suspension and launching a Type S performance variant later in the year.
The engine of the 2022 MDX is a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 290 hp and 267 lb-ft (362 Nm) of torque. This engine is coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission and while front-wheel drive is standard, Acura’s Torque Vectoring SH-AWD system is also available as an option.
Although the MDX range has yet to welcome the flagship Type S model, we know that it will feature a new turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 355 hp and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque. It will also come standard with upgraded brakes, bigger wheels, and distinctive exterior and interior styling.
Prices for the 2022 Acura MDX kick off at $46,900 for the base front-wheel drive model.
