Providing some respite from the onslaught of upcoming EVs (not that we’re complaining, just that a bit of variety is nice) is this: what appears to be a variation on the Huayra BC Roadster under camouflage — or at least what we expect is a new limited-run version.
Launched back in 2019, the Huayra BC Roadster was all that we loved about the track-focused BC, with an option to let the wind in your hair. It was also uber-exclusive, limited to just 40 units.
This prototype appears to share much of the trick aero developed for the BC Roadster production car, with one key difference. Look towards the diffuser, and you’ll see two round-tipped exhausts exiting, indicating that the centrally-mounted quad stack is fake.

Does this mean that Pagani will phase out their Mercedes-sourced V12 and perhaps offer some kind of hybrid version? Unlikely, as Horacio Pagani himself has gone on record to say that the relationship with Mercedes-AMG has guaranteed that V12-engined cars will remain a staple until at least 2026. That’s despite the fact that Mercedes-Benz has now phased out the foundation engine and is set to replace it with hybrid V8s as part of their “AMG 73” flagships. These new models are expected to deliver power in the region of 800 hp — comparable to the number’s you’d expect from Pagani, too, albeit without the aural drama.
This prototype undergoing tests was spotted at AMG in Affalterbach, indicating that whatever was being tested was likely powertrain related.
What we see here likely a further extension of a track-based Huayra Roadster, building on the foundation laid by the BC and perhaps becoming even more exclusive. Although the BC Roadster was intended to be a final edition, it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen a Pagani model’s lifespan extended for one last hurrah.
Pagani is also reportedly developing an all-new V12 supercar, as well as an all-electric offering that is set to debut in 2024.
