BMW introduced the i4 concept a little over a year ago and it now appears the production model will be unveiled on March 17th.
Details are limited, but BMW Blog is reporting the date was confirmed by officials during a recent conference call. This isn’t too surprising as the company hinted a debut was imminent as they tweeted “i foursee a new age coming” over the weekend.
While BMW is keeping tight-lipped on specifics, spy photographers have caught the model on numerous occasions. It closely resembles the 4-Series Gran Coupe, but features a unique front end with a fully enclosed grille. The model also eschews a dual exhaust system for a split diffuser.

In 2019, BMW revealed plans for a high-performance variant that produces around 523 hp (390 kW / 530 PS) and can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in approximately four seconds flat. The company also confirmed the model will have a roughly 80 kWh battery pack that enables the car to travel around 373 miles (600 km) in the WLTP cycle.
Thanks to a DC fast charging capacity of up to 150 kW, owners will be able to get an 80% charge in around 35 minutes. Even a six minute charge should be good enough to get you around 62 miles (100 km) of range.
Additional variants are expected and rumors have suggested there will be an entry-level i4 with approximately 280 hp (209 kW / 284 PS). It might be joined by a mid-level version with around 330 hp (246 kW / 335 PS).
