Alfaholics is to Alfa Romeo what Singer is to Porsche and the GTA-R 290 is one of the company’s finest creations.
A handful of British journalists have driven this very car in recent years and for the most recent episode of Top Gear, none other than Chris Harris had an opportunity to put it through its paces at the Dunsfold Aerodrome. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Harris has driven the car as it was also featured on an episode of ‘Chris Harris Drives’ back in late 2017.

Powering the Alfaholics GTA-R 290 is a 2.3-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine that produces 240 hp. While that may not sound like a lot, the entire car weighs just 830 kg (1,829 lbs), meaning the GTA-R 290 has a power-to-weight ratio of 290 hp per tonne (hence the name). This four-cylinder also happens to sound incredible when revved out and pushed to its limits.
Coupled to this engine is a manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels and unlike modern Alfa Romeos, the GTA-R 290 lacks any kind of safety system that would detract from the driving experience.
The key reason why the GTA-R 290 is so light is the fact that the trunklid, boot, and doors are all made out of lightweight carbon fiber. The car also features a host of parts made from billet aluminum and wishbones manufactured from titanium.
Buying a vehicle like this doesn’t come cheap, however. In fact, the GTA-R 290 from Alfaholics has a price tag of $250,000.
