Dacia has just released more details about the Spring EV, including performance figures.

To no one’s surprise, it is very slow, as its electric motor puts out a mere 45 PS (44 HP / 33 kW) and 125 Nm (92 lb-ft) of torque.

Officially, the 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) takes 19.1 seconds, and from 80 to 120 km/h (50-75 mph), the Romanian automaker’s first electric vehicle needs 26.2 seconds. It will complete a standing kilometer (0.6 miles) in 40.5 seconds, and if the driver is patient, and the straight long enough, it will max out at 125 km/h (78 mph).

Designed primarily for urban use, the Spring, which has a curb weight of 970 kg (2,138 lbs), needs a decent 5.8 seconds from 0 to 50 km/h (31 mph). It features a 27.4 kWh lithium-ion battery that provides a range of 305 km (190 miles) in the city and 230 km (143 miles) combined on the WLTP cycle, and the charging times vary from 13.32 hours at 2.3 kW, to 4.51 hours at a 7.4 kWh wallbox. The battery also supports DC fast charging, taking 56 minutes to get from 0 to 80 percent.

Dacia Spring Business and Cargo

Dacia will start accepting pre-orders for the Spring on March 20, and the regular model will be joined by the Spring Business this month. Aimed at the car-sharing market, this version will feature extra hardware meant to facilitate smartphone localization and remote unlocking.

It will be available in white or light grey, with blue accents on the roof bars and 14-inch Flex wheels. The Media Nav infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, fake leather upholstery with blue stitching, floor mats, and front door and boot sill protection will be standard.

An N1 approved utility variant, named the Spring Cargo, will launch from early 2022. It will have a partition wall separating the front passenger compartment from the cargo area, a loading length of 1,033 mm (40.7 in), 1,100 liters (38.8 cu-ft) of volume and 325 kg (717 lbs) payload.

All examples will be offered in white with steel wheels and standard door sill and trunk sill protection, manual air conditioning, radio with Bluetooth and a USB socket.
