The driver of a Dodge Charger had a run-in with the law in Ontario, Canada and his excuse for speeding didn’t go down well with the police.

Taking to Twitter, the PRP Road Safety Services account of the Peel Police stated that the Charger was pulled over for doing 152 km/h (94.4 mph) in an 80 km/h (50 mph) zone. There is no reasonable excuse to justify driving at almost double the speed limit, but that didn’t stop the driver of the Dodge from trying to talk his way out of a ticket.

According to the local police, the male driver of the Charger claimed that he was driving at such high speeds to “see if his rim was rattling.” As excuses go, that’s a pretty terrible one and the police officer, Constable Maye, didn’t much care for it, saying he would get the impound lot to check if the wheel was rattling or not.

For a typical motorist, the suspicion that something may be wrong with their vehicle doesn’t prompt them to speed up; on the contrary, it encourages them to slow down out of fear that there might be an issue with their car, or even pull over to the side of the road to check out what’s happening. Speeding up definitely isn’t a wise option; but then again, it’s very likely that the man just tried to find an excuse and hoped it would work.
